#AskDrKK: In chickenpox who needs anti viral drugs?

#DrKkAnswers: An antiviral is most beneficial if begun during the first 24 hours of the skin rash. Healthy children with no severe symptoms don't need an antiviral medication.

The following needs to be started on antiviral

1. Adults and teens being at risk of more severe symptoms

2. Adolescents on regular aspirin

3. People with skin or lung conditions

4. People on steroids

5. People who have been exposed to chickenpox, but haven't contracted the infection, may benefit from an antiviral.
