A
friend recently introduced me to two new features of Google Chrome: ‘Voice
typing’ and ‘Search by Voice’.
To
start voice typing, open a new document in Google Docs in a Chrome Browser.
Select ‘Tools’ from the Menu Bar. In the Drop down menu, click on the
Microphone Icon, a microphone box appears. Click on the microphone icon
to start voice typing; once activated, it becomes red. Start speaking.
You
will find that as you speak, the words are automatically typed in the document.
Speak clearly and loudly. You can also type in Hindi or any other language;
click on the drop down menu to select the language. You can edit the document
later.
You
can also do a Voice search in Google. Click on the mike on the
Google search bar and speak up. Instead of typing your keywords in
the search bar, speak them aloud. Voice search is faster and also easier.
Not
all of us are very proficient in typing on the keyboard as the younger
generation. Use these features to save time. Just sit back and start ‘typing’
as you speak, even as you enjoy the freedom of movement instead of sitting at a
desk hunched over a keyboard. You can use it to make patient summary or
discharge ticket or other relevant notes.
