Dr KK Answers: Can Spironolactone be given in resistant hypertension?

Compared with placebo, spironolactone 25 mg/day significantly reduced mean daytime & nighttime ambulatory upper systolic blood pressure (by 5.4 & 8.6 mmHg, respectively).
However there was no difference between treatment groups in the change of lower diastolic blood pressure or frequency of achieving an office upper systolic blood pressure of less than 140 mm Hg.
