Spiritual Guru and renowned International author, Dr Deepak Chopra launches Heart Care Foundation of India’s new initiative – the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund

The project has been instituted with an aim that no one should die of heart disease just because they cannot otherwise afford treatment

Heart Care Foundation of India, a leading national non-profit organization committed to making India a healthier and disease free nation today launched its new initiative, the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund. The basic ideology behind the fund is to ensure that no person dies of a heart disease just because he or she cannot afford treatment. The launch event was held on the occasion of World Heart Day in the presence of none other than renowned motivational speaker and internationally acclaimed author Dr. Deepak Chopra at the Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium in New Delhi. Any person irrespective of their gender, religion or age can apply for the benefits of the fund by calling on its helpline number +919958771177.

Research indicates that in the National Capital of India itself, 19 patients die directly due to heart disease everyday. Several of the heart conditions are curable and death is preventable; however, not everyone can afford the treatment and hospital costs. The Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund is an attempt to bridge this disparity and provide individuals the ability to live a healthy- and disease-free life. Since the inception of the project in April 2014, over 200 patients belonging to economically weaker sections of the society have already been helped and treated. The aim is to take this number up to 600 by the end of the first year itself.

Speaking at the occasion Dr. Deepak Chopra, the New Age Motivational Guru and Internationally Acclaimed Author said, “Heart disease is becoming a global problem and its implications in a country like India where majority of the people cannot afford treatment is huge. I applaud NGOs like the Heart Care Foundation of India for playing such an instrumental role in spreading preventive health awareness in the country and providing effective solutions for the economically weaker sections of the society. The Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund is a noble project aimed at ensuring that no person dies of heart disease because they cannot afford treatment. I urge everyone to come forward and support Dr. KK Aggarwal and his team in making this a success”.

Adding to this, Dr. KK Aggarwal, Padma Shri, National Science and Communication and Dr. BC Roy Awardee and President of the Heart Care Foundation of India said, ”We at Heart Care Foundation of India are committed to raising awareness and providing effective solutions to the growing medical problems in the country. As a part of this endeavor, in addition to our two flagship projects the Perfect Health Mela, a mass health awareness module; and the Hands Only CPR campaign, a project to educate the masses about revival after sudden cardiac arrest; we have launched the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund to help save lives of all those heart patients who cannot afford treatment. We are extremely thankful to Dr. Deepak Chopra and the Malik Family for supporting us in this cause and hope that we can continue to make a difference to the society in the future”.

An expert committee assesses all applications received by the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund. Once sanctioned, the funds are directly deposited in the bank account of the medical establishments treating the patient. Heart Care Foundation of India provides surgeries in association with leading hospitals in the capital city such as Medanta – The Medcity and National Heart Institute for surgical treatments and also provides lodging facilities at concessional rates for outstation patients. In order to reach more patients, a mass patient screening drive will be conducted at the 21st MTNL Perfect Health Mela, another project of the NGO scheduled to be held between October 15-19, 2014 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
Commenting on its partnership with the project for the treatment of patients with congenital heart diseases, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman of Medanta - The Medicity said, “In India itself 1.3 lakh children are born with congenital heart disease every year and can live a healthy life with timely surgery. Understanding the plight of the large number of people who don’t have the means to opt for this surgery, we at Medanta - The Medicity are supporting the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund in its effort to ensure that no person dies of heart disease just because they cannot afford treatment”.

Releasing these statistics Dr Aggarwal said that the Foundation intends to train 100,000 people in the next one year.

Dr Deepak Chopra, New Age Guru and an internationally acclaimed author, chief guest for the function said, that hands-only CPR should be taught to every school child, health care worker and relations of heart patients. He said that every effort should be made to revive a person within 10 minutes of sudden death. "It is good Karma."

The CPR manta is within 10 minutes of death, earlier the better, for the next at least 10 minutes, compress the centre of the chest, continuously and effectively, with a speed of 10x10, hundred per minute.

The general public must learn CPR as Doctors often cannot reach the site or the victim cannot be taken to the medical facility in 10 minutes. Therefore, it is the public who has to learn and provide hand-only CPR, revive the heart and take the victim to the nearest medical facility.

Harshita Gupta, a 16 years old girl form Birla Vidya Niketan successfully revived her uncle last week from Cardiac arrest.

When wealth can become injurious to health

Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha are the four basic purposes of life. It means earning righteously with a desire to fulfill the inner happiness. The word ‘Artha’ relates to righteous earning. Any unrighteous earning can put one into danger.
There are enough references in modern medicine describing “property disputes” as one of the main causes responsible for heart blockages. The other being “marital disharmony”.
Many Vedic texts also give reference to the meaning of ‘Artha’. As per Vedic philosophy desire only begets desire. The desire of accumulating wealth is dangerous and infectious.
As per Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, any wealth acquired more than one needs cannot make one sleep properly.
Vidur in Vidur Niti in a dialogue with King Dhratrashtra described five basic reasons for not getting sleep. Two of them being “if one has stolen somebody’s money” and “if one has lost all his or her wealth”.
Chanakya Niti mentions that any wealth acquired by unfair means will not last for more than eight years.
Adi Shankracharya in his book Bhaj Govindam, Shloka 6 warns the rich community to beware of even their own sons. He mentions, “One should regard wealth always as danger as there is not even an atom of happiness to be really derived from it. To the rich there is a fear even from their own sons. This is an established law everywhere.”
Jesus in Bible also said that the rich lacking contentment can never reach the heaven.
Every wealth one acquired should be treated as a property of the trust of whose one is the trustee and this trust should be only for the welfare of the society, said Dr. Karan Singh in one of his lectures.
Sathya Sai Baba said that wealth is like a shoe. If it is small, it brings difficulty, if it is big, then also it makes one uncomfortable.
In Bhagavad Gītā, Lord Krishna said that those who cook for the sake of  their body alone, eat only sins.
Wealth is the womb of all other types of vises, said Rishi Narad in Shrimad Bhagwad. He said that along with wealth come vises like gambling, drinking and sexual perversions.
Taittiriya Upanishad also said that food will eat up the eater who eats without sharing. The Upanishad talks about importance of sharing the food with others.
Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gītā said that whatever elders do, others follow the same. If one acquired money out of unfair means, it is likely that the next generation will follow the same.
Wealth should be treated as a flow of money in the universe, said Dr. Deepak Chopra. Your purpose should be only to make sure that this flow not gets diverted through your river.
Accumulating money serves no purpose unless one uses it properly for the purpose it was collected. I recall an example of a lady who let her son die for financial constraints. When asked if she had any ancestral belongings, she said she only had some gold lying in his house but that was only to be used for bad time.

Dr Deepak Chopra on Quantam Mechanics

Poetic interlude "We come spinning out of nothingness scattering stars like dust" –Rumi
Schrodinger’s equation explains every atom in the periodic table of elements & its appearance from nothingness
Schrodinger’s equation is a mathematical formulation that accounts for the appearance of all atoms in the universe from nothingness
Schrodinger’s wave function equation describes the distribution map for a particle appearing in & out of existence from nothingness
Subatomic particles appear from the nothingness of space, exist, & disappear into the nothingness at lightening speed
Subatomic particles can travel along many paths simultaneously
Subatomic particles can be in more than one place at the same time
Subatomic particles can disappear & reappear in another location without existing in the intervening space
Waves of potentiality are trans–empirical, unobservable, but real as without them particles would not exist
Waves of potentiality, unlike particles, do not have physical units of mass or energy. They are numbers or ratios of numbers
When particles are left alone or not interfered with they spontaneously evolve into waves of potentiality
As particles quantum objects are material & in the empirical world (verified by observation/measurable) As
waves they are not material
Quantum objects exist as particles/waves. As particles they have physical properties of mass & energy. As waves they are possibilities
