Ask Dr KK: How dangerous is living alone after a heart attack?

Dr KK Answers:  As per a study in Am. Journal of Cardiology, living alone after a heart attack is linked to an increased risk of death in the next 4 years. The mortality risk one year after a heart attack was roughly the same for individuals living alone compared to those living with someone else. However, the mortality risk was 35% greater for individuals who lived alone 4 yrs after the heart attack.
