Performance Anxiety

There is release of adrenaline and noradrenalin when you want to perform better or you are being watched for your performance? The result can be an acute attack of anxiety, panic reaction or faulty judgments.

Even Sachin Tendulkar is not immune to this anxiety. His nervous nineties phenomenon is well known.  He has been out on multiple occasions in nineties including on ninety nine.  Presently we can see him taking time to complete his hundredth centaury also.

In Sachin’s case the opposition also has been using his weakness as their strength. Every time before the match the opposite team captain will declare that we will not allow Sachin to score hundred in this match.

Performance anxiety is also seen as phenomena in extra marital affairs. When the age of the male partner is 20 years more than the female partners the resultant anxiety to perform better can lead to acute rise in pulse rate and blood pressure and can even precipitate heart attacks.

Performance anxiety is also seen when you are facing an interview, participating in a competition, facing camera or going for a public speech.

The medical drug commonly used is a beta blocker and the Yogic drug is practicing Pranayama and Meditation.
