Emedinews: Makesure: A patient with asymptomatic sinus bradycardia after PPI developed lead infection

Situation: A patient with asymptomatic sinus bradycardia after PPI developed lead infection
Reaction: Oh my God! Why was PPI (Permanent pace maker implantation) done?
Lesson: Make sure that PPI is not implanted in patients with sinus bradycardia without significant symptoms, sinoatrial block or sinus arrest without significant symptoms, asymptomatic prolonged RR intervals with atrial fibrillation or other causes of transient ventricular pause and asymptomatic bradycardia during sleep.
