Abstract
The presence of abraded or worn dentition, decreased bony support, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction are challenges in the orthodontic treatment of adults. Deep overbite is one of the most common components of a malocclusion as well as a major challenge even for a competent orthodontist. Intrusion should be the treatment of choice for adult patients, who have had significant bone loss around the incisors. In this case report, we document an interdisciplinary approach for the treatment of deep bite in an adult patient. The treatment of a young adult patient is reported to illustrate the importance of sequencing treatments from one discipline to another, communication among the team players and the benefits of working together in an interdisciplinary approach. Orthodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics was combined to achieve the treatment goals: A bilateral Class I relationship, correction of the anterior deep bite, an esthetic smile displaying four incisors and a harmonious profile.
